Inkster, Michigan – The Global African Business Association (GABA) and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) are proud to announce the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) solidifying a shared commitment to fostering economic partnerships between Nigeria and the State of Michigan. This agreement, formalized during the ongoing NACCIMA-GABA Trade Mission in Michigan, represents a major milestone in strengthening trade, investment, and economic ties between the two regions. Both GABA and NACCIMA are committed to leveraging their collective expertise and resources to drive economic growth, facilitate investment, and promote public-private partnerships that will benefit businesses in Nigeria and Michigan.

As a vital part of this collaboration, the organizations will work to increase market access for Nigerian businesses seeking to expand into the United States, particularly in Michigan’s thriving sectors. The MOU also highlights a focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria through exposure to cutting-edge technologies, trade opportunities, and innovation from Michigan-based companies.

Dele Kelvin Oye Esq., National President of NACCIMA, shared his optimism for the future: “This agreement with GABA reflects our commitment to expanding Nigeria’s global economic footprint. Michigan, with its leadership in sectors such as automotive technology and agriculture, is a key strategic partner for us. Through this MOU, we are establishing a blueprint for collaboration that will support the growth of Nigerian businesses and encourage knowledge-sharing that will benefit both regions. We look forward to the impactful partnerships and opportunities that this MOU will unlock.”

Also, speaking on the significance of the partnership, Akindele Akinyemi, Board President of GABA, said, “This MOU marks an exciting new chapter in the relationship between Nigeria and Michigan. As we work on renewing the African Growth Opportunity Act with our key stakeholders led by our Certified AGOA Trade Advisor and GABA Board of Directors, Mr. Warren Winston, the opportunities for trade and investment between our regions will be vast, and by joining forces with NACCIMA, we are laying the foundation for sustained economic growth and collaboration. We are eager to work closely with NACCIMA to drive progress, create jobs, and inspire innovation.”

O. Rerhi Onomake, Group CEO of GABA, emphasized the profound impact of the agreement, stating, “This Memorandum of Understanding represents a transformative milestone in our collective journey toward global economic integration. By uniting the strengths of Nigeria and Michigan, we are not just creating opportunities for trade and investment—we are building a legacy of innovation, growth, and mutual prosperity that will resonate for generations to come. GABA is proud to stand at the forefront of this historic partnership, and we are deeply committed to driving economic success through collaboration and shared vision”

The signing of this MOU is one of the highlights of the NACCIMA-GABA Trade Mission, which has brought together dignitaries, industry leaders, and government officials to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation between Nigeria and Michigan.
